There are certain situations when Graduate Teaching Assistants may need legal advice and/or support. There are several organizations at Western that can help you in difficult times. It is important to remember that you are not alone and there are people who are ready and willing to assist you. Community Legal Services provide free legal advice and representation to members of the Western community. CLS offers advice and representation regarding various issues, including landlord and tenant disagreements, estate law, academic appeals, mediation, and immigration law. CLS can also help you with notarizing documents and statutory declarations. Please refer to the list of their services here: http://www.law.uwo.ca/CLS/index.html Equity and Human Rights Services are ready to help you in case you need information and advice regarding discrimination, harassment, employment equity, diversity and other human rights related issues. EHRS are dedicated to making Western an equitable, safe and supportive environment for all members of the University community. Their service is confidential except for specific circumstances. More information is available at http://www.uwo.ca/equity/ Campus Community Police Service runs several programs regarding safety on campus, personal safety and property security. Some of the campus safety services include the Student Emergency Response Team, Volunteer Foot Patrollers, Occupational Health and Safety, Equity Services, Housing and others.
